What lessons you have learned so far, and how have these lessons helped you achieve your goals?

Although it may seem scary, it’s important to take risks and get outside your comfort zone. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt and surprise yourself! You may achieve what you think you never thought you could.

Going to Rhodes University in Grahamstown was a shot in the dark for me. I didn’t know anybody there. I didn’t know what to expect, yet those years are some of the happiest of my life.

Do you have a favourite quote or motto that you live by?

Looking after your skin is an act of selflove. Also, always be a little kinder than necessary.

What advice can you give to help others become the best person they can be?

If people were a little more accepting, the world would be a kinder place. Try and make an effort to understand those that are different from you.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

Yes. I studied drama and Afrikaans literature and so my passions are theatre and literature. I love writing, watching interesting films and reading poetry, especially Afrikaans poetry. Afrikaans as a language is very expressive and so is their poetry too. Afrikaans poetry is also surprisingly liberal; advocating for the acceptance of others. I think that’s really cool.
